These are great lights. fairly easy to install. We have metal soffit so they stuck well.I did wipe the surface with clean rag and alcohol to clean. About every 4 th light ended up on a joint or a v in the soffit, so double clipped these ones. Next day went back over and double clipped all the lights. The screws for the clips could use a self tapper end. I did find out after a bit if you lined up the clips in line with the little slots in the soffit the screws started easier. The only other problem is not sure how to make the lights a solid color. We are not much for the flashing lights. In the App there is a theme called Working, the lights stay solid white We do like this,I just think in the App the first thing you see should be all the colors available and be able to choose the color you want. All the themes on the app with the fancy names are just not for us except the special occasions

I was stuck in the "Christmas lights loop" for years of getting a strings of lights from a Canadian hardware store that also sells Tires only to have them last one season. The following year I'd go back and buy new sets to replace the ones that no longer worked; rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

No more!! These Govee lights are wonderful and permanent so I never need to bother taking them down like I did with the old-style Christmas lights. They tuck away nicely on the soffits so you don't even notice they're there when they're not on, and when they're on the lights look absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to put them on for Valentine's Day, Easter, my birthday (!!!), Halloween, and anything else I feel like. Highest recommendation. It's time to put the old school Christmas lights out to pasture and get a modern upgrade.

Installed these on our 1940's house. They look fantastic and we are very happy with the end result. I love how they highlight our house. App seems easy to use so far.
Curious how they will work in -40 weather.
Took a total of 6-8 hours to install, which was more than we expected. We have an older home so we had to deal with some quirks of battens and installing on different angles/wood and getting creative. It was a lot of time on ladders, so I do not recommend if afraid of heights for a 2 story house. We also had to buy q-hooks/string hooks as some strings were loose between battens, and use zip ties for the extension cords. We used 5/9 light cords (83 feet) and two long extension cords (2x12 feet).

I recently installed the Govee permanent lights instead of purchasing Christmas lights for the house. Firstly, they're very bright and look great on the house! The 3M tape didn't stick that well, the cold Canadian Decembers where I live surely didn't help. Would be nice if the length from light to light matched standard soffit, every 5th light or so falls in a ridge and wouldn't stick at all. The little clips that come with the lights are junk, and the screws are improper. The app is not very user friendly, more time messing with that to get a red/green pattern and the automation than installing the lights. In the spring I will come up with a more permanent mounting solution, hopefully I'm not picking them out of a snowbank.
